Almost certain conclusion Death of Mary Mallonee

  • Mary M. Talley Dead Again we are called upon to chronicle the effects of the grim monster, death. The victim, Mary M. Talley, who for many years lived near Martinsburg, and was a sister of Dr. W. D. Mallonee, died at the home of her daughter, Elizabeth Wilkinson, near Half Rock, Missouri January 27. Mary M. Mallonee was born in Knox county, Kentucky, September 15, 1808, moved with her parents to Indiana and was married to Robinson Dalton in 1826, who died in 1840, leaving the widow and six children. For 18 years she lived a widow and provided for the family thus left to her care. In 1852 she removed to Keokuk county, Iowa, with her family and again encountered the hardships of a pioneer life. In 1858 she married John W. Talley, and eminent and worthy Baptist minister, who died in 1869 again leaving her a widow. For some time she lived with her daughter, Mrs. S.J. McGee, who then lived in Martinsburg. For the past 18 years she has lived with her daughter, Elizabeth W., in Missouri, or Mrs. S.J. McGee, of Kansas, or Mrs. Perminda Fitts, of Ottumwa. The summer of 1898 she visited her brother, W.D. Mallonee, at Martinsburg, at which place she had a severe illness, fro which she never rallied. Partially recovering she returned to her home in Missouri, in November, 1898, but was quite feeble up to her death. Her memory was clear, she was patient in her affliction, and met death hopefully, having lived a consistent christian life for many years. She leaves four children and many grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn her loss, for to know her was to love her. She was laid to rest beside her sister, Elizabeth Marsh, in the Half Rock cemetery, January 28, 1899, followed by many relatives and friends. Robert Dalton, of Hedrick, a grandson of the deceased, was present at the funeral.

Almost certain conclusion Burial of Mary Mallonee
