In 1853 he came to Highland and opened a butcher shop which he opreated until he retired on 1886. He married two times, first to Miss Caroline Bellm in Jun 1853. She died in 1885. Eight children were born. Second he married Miss Josephine Brensinger while on visit to where he was born.
